Parent Meeting Recap

Hi Parents! Our first week of practice went smoothly and we are so impressed with all of your swimmers! As promised, here is a recap of the parent meeting we hosted Thursday, in case you missed it.

-townelakesharks.swimtopia.com : Familiarize yourself with our site. It is loaded with information, schedules, and details. It is how you will rsvp each week and sign up for volunteer slots and it is necessary to know how to navigate it.

-Don't forget about picture day tomorrow, Monday 5/19! Sign up for an individual time slot here: Towne Lake Sharks 5/19/25 — Signup Sheet | SignUp.com Make sure to be there at 5:30 for the group pic!

WEATHER POLICY:

-We will practice unless it's thundering/lightning, or raining too hard to see the bottom of the pool.

- We will communicate any practice or meet cancellations via Remind 101.

-Please do not decide to NOT show up for practice or a meet if we do not send a message announcing a cancellation. We will often wait 5-10 minutes before a scheduled event to make a weather decision as Georgia weather changes quickly.

PRACTICES:

- swimmers should not sit on the stairs or be in the pool if it is not their age groups practice time.

- No Friday practices

- Swimmers are not allowed to be on the tennis courts.

- All swimmers should practice with goggles and their hair pulled back if it is long enough to block their eyes.

SWIM MEETS:

- Donuts and Juice on thursday mornings / lighter practice

- You are required to volunteer for 4 half meets during the season. This is a requirement for your child to participate on the swim team. *Sign up early as the most wanted jobs go quickly. *We will assign jobs to anyone who does not sign up and expect you to be there.

- We will open the volunteer signup tab on May 23. We will send out an email and a note on Remind 101 when it is open.

- To sign up for volunteer positions and RSVP for a swim meet, go to the schedule and by each meet there will be two green tabs. One will say Job Signup and the other will say Meet Signup. Follow the prompts for each tab for each meet to sign up.

- Swimmers MUST RSVP for each meet the Tuesday before that meet so we can build the meet events.

- All swimmers need to have their name and age on the back of their right shoulder. All swimmers should follow the format described on the site to write their events, heat, and lane on their arm.

- Per ASA rules, coaches are not allowed in the water with swimmers during the meet

-Swimmers 10 and under are required to be in the bullpen 5-7 events prior to their race. It is the parents responsibility to get them there. **We do not hold coaches or coordinators responsible for swimmers who have missed their meets, and we will not track down kids to bring them to the bullpen.

-Swimmers 11 and up need to be behind their race block 3 events prior. There will be an event board on the clubhouse deck that shows you the Event and Heat number, as well as an announcer.

- No one is allowed on the tennis courts or playground during the meets.

We need some parent help! We are looking for a concessions coordinator. This will be a family in charge of running the concession stand at our two home meets. You will be responsible for grabbing  the pickup order from Sam's and then setting the concession stand up and running it at the meets. You will have 4 parent volunteers helping you during the meets. This will satisfy all volunteer requirements.

Lastly, This is our last year coordinating! We have enjoyed every minute of running this team and getting to know all of your swimmers. We took on this role when our teenagers were still little and it has been so fun growing with everyone, but it is time for us to pass the torch on to someone else.  We will provide you with everything you need to know and will be around next year to help. If anyone has kids who think they might want to coach one day, this is a great opportunity to help open that door for them. This is a volunteer position, and none of the Summer Swim Teams can run without a Coordinator.  If anyone is interested, it would be super helpful to shadow us for meets this year to see the ins and outs. Please let us know if you think this could be you!

As always, we are both available by text, Remind, or our Sharks email. Go Sharks!
